Without question, the film tax incentives┬áhave been a huge help to me. After having to leave college with no degree, I was able to get stagehand work in Boston, because all the regulars were working on movies. That led to a full-time event production gig, and now a regular 9 to 5 salary, part of which I dutifully hand over to the state of Massachusetts, along with sales tax on things like a car, TV, washer and dryer, etc. The film tax credit’s┬áreach goes a lot farther than just the “big Hollywood Studios,” and I’m an indirect example of that. That’s one (of many) reason(s) I support it.
