  • Mike Ross - My name is Mike Ross. I am a driver for the movie business.I am a lifelong resident of massachusetts. I make a good living working on the movies filmed in Massachusetts. I am a single parent and by having a steady income because or the MassState Film Tax Credit. I have been able to put my daughter through nursing school. If the Tax Credit is discontinued I will be out of a job. Jobs are hard to find these days. Especially for someone approaching 60 years of age. Companies want the young people not someone who id getting close to retirement. There is so much more to the tax credit that can’t be tracked by paper. Like how some businesses that didn’t have to layoff workers because we were spending so much money for their services. We try to use local Mom and Pop stores when we can. I have driven the fuel truck on a few shows and used local gas (not from the big chains) and was spending around 1.000.00 a day. There are new companies starting to build in mass in support of the movie business. Which they never did before because they weren’t here enough. The more they come the more support companies star and that means more jobs for mass residents.ReplyCancel

  • Jason Coffey - My name is Jason Coffey I have been in the A.I.T.S.E for over ten years and have worked in the entertainment industry for over twenty years. My first film was shutter island in 08 I fell in love with this job more then I can say to anyone reading this will know. I am blessed to work with some of the greatest and talented people I’ve ever had the privilege to work with . I live in western mass and know first hand that the film industry helps feed many family including my own. I also know that the funds are spread around as I do not live in the greater Boston area where many a production have been located there for I commute or stay in hotels or rent apartment as wellas eat three times a day at local fenders. We are all just trying to make a living. To lose the tax insensitive would be a great lose to many of us as well as the new England area and will no doubt put many of us in very grave circumstances. Most people on the outside looking in do not see how much revenue is pumped into local areas lumber yards, steel yards, hotels, stores, flooring suppliers, restaurants, coffee shop, gas stations, equipment rentals, and many other wise vacant property just to name a few. I hope and pray that the powers that be see that to lose out on the film industry will without question hurt many of us and worst of all our family. To all my brothers and sister lets hope this doesn’t fall on deaf ears and we can continue to do the job we love so muchReplyCancel
